Active
Communications Corporation ("activecom.net") has defined several account types
for you to choose from. They are all designed to provide you ("the
user") with levels of service that will support your needs. All of
these account types can be found on the activecom.net home page (http://www.activecom.net)
under Products and Service section. The following section gives definitions for some of these account type and terminology.
Unlimited
Access
Unlimited
Access refers to the ability to "Access" or "Dial-Up"
your Internet Service Provider ("ISP") and get connected to
the Internet. It does not refer to the amount of time you can be on-line
or the amount of data you can access. This is the accepted definition
in use by all ISPs. This account
provides you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, "access" to the
Internet and is designed for those who use the Internet between 20 and
240 hours per month. There are other accounts designed for those above
or below these levels. Keeping your
computer connected to the Internet while you are not actively using
it is not condoned by activecom.net. There are many programs available
to establish this "fake" connection, use of any of these programs may
violate your account definition and can result in account suspension
or termination.
Unlimited
Use
Unlimited
Use refers to having your computer being connected to the Internet 24
hours a day, 365 days a year. This type of account is usually referred
to as "Dedicated Service" or "Dedicated Line". This
account is designed for heavy users who need immediate and continued
access to the Internet. These users pay a special price to have this
"Unlimited Use" and in turn have dedicated modems and connections
to the Internet.
Network
Impediment
Engaging
in any activity which adversely affects the stability or performance
of activecom.nets network resources or Internet services is unfair
to the other clients who expect the same resources to be at their disposal.
Excessive
Bandwidth Use
Bandwidth refers to the
amount of data that can be transmitted in a fixed amount of time. For
digital devices, such as computers/modems, bandwidth is usually expressed
in bits or bytes per second (bps). Use of resources
(i.e., disk space, bandwidth) in excess of the allotment by activecom.net
for a specific account is not permitted. Disk space refers to resources
set aside on the hard drive for web space, e-mail accounts, and ftp
data. In the event that the excess
is determined, the client will be notified first by e-mail. If the excess
continues for more than 24 hours after the notification the owner may
be contacted by phone and requested to upgrade the service level of
the account or to modify the usage pattern. If the excessive use of
bandwidth or disk space is found to adversely affect activecom.nets
ability to provide Internet service to other clients then immediate
action shall be taken.
